Create new database...

Klerman

Hello all,
I just installed Office 2007 Ultimate on this computer with Windows Vista.
I'm trying to create a new blank database, but Access 2007 won't give me any
option to provide the name or the location for the new file. All I have is
the option to open an existing one.
Can you tell me what's wrong here ?

When you launch Access, you should see a screen entitled "Getting Started
with Microsoft Office Access". Below this title is an icon entitled "Blank
Database". Click this icon, and the [Blank Database] pane will appear on the
right-hand-side. Enter the desired filename in the [File Name] box, and
click [Create]

Below the [File Name] box is the folder into which the new database will be
created. If you don't like that destination, click the folder icon to the
right of the box. The [File New Database] dialog is displayed. Find the
folder into which you want the new database created, give the database a
name, and click OK. Then,as above, click [Create].

At any time you can click the Office button (the circle at the extreme
top-left of the Access application window), and select [New]. This displays
the [Getting Started] screen.

Graham,
The problem here is that I click on the "Create New Database" icon, and the
left pane won't appear. In the left side of the screen I only have an option
to open an existing database.

This Vista installation was done over an XP installation as an upgrade. The
computer was very slow and I had several problems like this one with Access.
So I did a clean installation on it, and installed Office again. Now all
features work as expected.
Thank you very much for the help.
