create check box

Because the form users are not well versed in computer applications, the
check box created in form where users need to double click first, then check
the option "unchecked" or option "checked" box, followed by clicking ok,
close the window before an X will populate the box. This process is too
complicated. I was told there is a type of check box where user can simply
double click on the box and an X will automatically populate the box. If
someone knows how to insert this type of check box, please help. Thanks.

I am using word 2002 (SP3), but I found out that once the form is locked ,
double clicking on the box will populate an X in the box, without having to
go through the required steps when the form is not locked. Thank you for
offering assistance. This is a very useful site and I will be revisiting it
from time to time to learn the many tricks.

I'm glad you found the answer to your question. As someone else who
frequents this forum to learn Word (and Excel too), I have found that if I
search for my problem first, I can almost always find the answer to my
problem. This way the helpful folks aren't having to answer the same
question over and over again. Just a little tidbit of information. :)

Actually a single click will check or uncheck the box when the form is
protected. If users are using the keyboard only (tabbing from one field to
the next, as they should), the spacebar will check it. If you don't want to
have to protect the whole form to get usable check boxes, see
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Add_Toggle_Objects.htm.
