Create A File Association

Garry

I used to be able to type a web address in the run box and it would open ie
and go to that site but now I get the response This file does not have a
program associated with it. Create an association in the folders options
control panel.

I have looked at the folder options but I am not sure which one of the many
folder types I need to ammend, I tried resetting everything but it didn't
work. The help files weren't very helpful so if anyone could advise me I
would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Go to Start/Run, and type: REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL Then open IE, Tools menu, Options, Program Tab, and click the "Reset Web Settings"
button.

Hi Garry,

Open Internet Explorer and click the Tools Menu
Select Internet Options, and click the Programs tab
Click "Reset Web settings" and complete the process.

This should fix most of the settings including http and file associations.

I did the entry in start/run and got the following 2 responses
1st. DllRegisterServer in urlmon succeeded
2nd. LoadLibrary("dll") failed - The specified module could not be found.

I also reset all web settings but still no success. There used to be an
entry SFC (system file check) but I cant find that program, l am also now
getting the error response on a couple of shortcuts for my broadband
provider on my desktop and these were only installed yesterday when I
changed ISP and moved up to a 2mbs ADSL connection. If I have lost or
corrupted some system files how can I find out and rectify it.
