Hi, I have a CD writer (samsung) and a DVD writer (sony). When I write cd's
or
DVD's I get CRC's. Some disc's work 100% and some have corrupt data and I
cannot read them. Tried a borrowed writer too...same problem. I am
using Nero 6 and 7, I even installed NTI CD and DVD maker 7.

PLease any help?
PS. even tried turning off XP's Recording on both drives....still CRC's

Cyclic Redundancy Check failures can occur for a myriad of reasons; from
the limited amount of information you have provided, a realistic answer
cannot be provided. Since it occurs on both drives, it is safe to assume
that it is either your system, or the software being used to record the data
to optical disc.

Some suggestions:

1. Don't use cheap, off brand blanks.
2. Reduce recording speed.
3. If the app you are using to burn has the option, verify data written.
4. Make sure the original data is not corrupt.

Im using latest BIOS versions, System board too.
1. I replaced the cable (IDE)
2. Running XP with SP2
3. Problem seems to be the Writing software installed with Microsoft XP
(Roxio)
4. I use Sony disc's (DVD-R Ver 2.0/1x-8x) even used Acos 8x (On my Acer
notebook, they works 100%)
5. Tried speeds alow as 2x (1x is a NO NO...what is the point?)

Sony DRU-700a using bois ver VY08
Samsung SW-252B using bios ver R702

How do you disable/remove Roxio from Windows XP?

Yves,
If you know anything about Windows's built-in writing software, its made by
Roxio....that is what im talking about. If only it was that simple to
uninstall (its not under Add/Remove Programs )

Thanks anyhow
