For those of you who have been around awhile, you have probably seen your fair share of errors related to this file. Well, i have another one. I recently just did a windows update. On reboot i found myself staring at the error message "Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing or corrupt. This file being crcdisk.sys.
Here are some thigns I've tried.
-Roll back to more then a week before the update.
-An Auto repair
-Command prompt and deleteing sptd.sys which seemed to be working on 64bit machines (related to deamon tools and virtual drives)
-All boot options ( ex. safe mode, etc.)
-turning off everything i could in bios. usb, nic, wireless, etc.

I am so stumped. Any help would be greatful or any ideas on how i could back everything up. I have read a little about booting to ubuntu and trying somethign like that. Thanks for any help guys.

-Dinny
