crashing/restarting at users welcome screen...

I

Ian Roberts

My friends PC (running XP HE) is set up so each member of the family logs in
as a separate user.

Inexplicably it has started crashing when he logs out and then a different
user tries to log in.

It seems to crash and instantly re-boot either just when tries to log off or
it boots to the welcome screen and if he selects any user other than his
username - it crashes and re-boots!

Any suggestions what we look for that could be causing this?

I know theres a way to bypass the users login screen but cant recall the
exact details - is there a way each user can bypass the welcome screen and
log straight in?

Thanks for any info

Ian

Thanks very much Carey.

I'll be going over to my friend at the weekend so I'll try it then.

He's not very technical and leaves all the "under the hood" stuff to me!
