crashing computer - help please

Hello, I need help with my com that keeps crashing. When I use IE6 (or any
browser) and the CPU works hard, my computer restarts.

I have Win XP pro, CPU Pentium 4 @ 2.4ghz, 512mb RAM

Online Crash Analysis shows this info:
Thank you for submitting an error report.

.........................

Your system crashed because the random access memory containing Windows
program code was corrupted. Microsoft is unable to determine if this
corruption was caused by a hardware or software issue. The nature of the
corruption suggests that a hardware issue is more likely. To determine if
this is the case, Microsoft developed a Windows memory diagnostic that tests
your PC memory.

We recommend you download and run this tool on your computer system. On most
configurations, you can download the diagnostic, read the documentation, run
the test and complete the test pass in less than 30 minutes. Click here to
get started.

..................

I ran this test and it found no problems. I have also monitored CPU temp,
use FreeRamXP, RegClean, Chkdsk, scanned with AVG, Spybot - nothing seems
to fix this problem, and my com has crashed many many times.

Please help. I don't know what else to do.

Hey Waratah, did you build your pc or have you had it long?.. the reason
i am asking is that make sure your mem modules are seated properly in
their slots. How long has this been happening... maybe a bug?

A friend built my PC for me. I paid him for the parts and he assembled. This
has been happening on and off since I have had my computer (about 2 years).
It's just that it's happening a lot more lately than ever before. Should I
check my RAM modules? How?

Also - it only seems to happen when connected to the net using Sun Java and
working the CPU hard. It's not overheating as I have checked that with
Hmonitor.

Hey Waratah, maybe your mem modules are corrupt, although i dont know.
Are they seated nice and snug?.. If you can, remove them and reseat
them. Update all your drivers, its worth it. Do it thru your
hardware/device manager. If you know your hardware, like vid card, hdd's
cdrw etc so much better you can visit their websites and updat from
there. Update your bios too.
I am sure someone will post more accurate remedies, but let us know.
Cheers, from one Aussie to another.

Thanks Rotric. I checked my RAM and they seem to be fine. I have updated all
by device drivers as you suggested. They are in the Ver 5 range. I have not
updated my BIOS. Will do that now.
