CPU usage

Everytime I boot up my computer, my CPU usage and memory
goes to 100% rendering my computer useless. I have
downloaded and installed service pack 4 with no success.
I have also downloaded and installed a patch with no
success.

My start-up and shut-down sequence highlights a couple of
things that I am confused about. First, when I boot up my
computer and windows is loaded, I get a window with a DOS
prompt that pops up telling me that a specific file and
path does not exist (c:\winnt\system32\cmd.exe).

Further, everytime I shut down the computer, I get the
following message: c:\winnt\system32\hoho\numbers.exe -
"windows cannot end this program. It may need more time
to complete an operation".

I know my problem may involve "numbers.exe"
and "services.exe". I was hoping the SP4 download would
have fixed the problem, but it did not.

Can anyone help?

Please go to McAfee (http://www.mcafee.com/myapps/mfs/default.asp) and/or Trend
(http://housecall.antivirus.com ) and perform and online scan of your platform and report
back your results.

You have a folder called "HOHO"? Forgive me if I'm wrong
and I may be stating the obvious, but this does not sound
like a lagitimate windows folder.

I see you have run Nortons VirusScan and deleted some
viruses (which is where I was going). I hate to say it,
but I would venture a guess that some of your files have
been corrupted and you may need to reinstall your windows
over the existing one. I this is not a server, then I
would do a fresh install. If it is a server, you may need
to do a weekend reinstall. If you know the exact files
that are corrupt, you may be able to get away with
extracting those and then reapplying the service pack.

Good luck.
