i've got a a7v266-e mb (pcb 1.07. bios 1015.003).
asus website says athlon xp 2400+ is the fastest cpu i can use. but there
are two versions of this cpu: Thoroughbred and Thorton. which of the two
should i use? which is better for overclocking? I supose the Thorton
because its a downgraded Barton, but whats about the overall performance?

The Thoroughbred should be the safest bet, as Asus may or may not have
incorporated the Thorton model number into the BIOS. It will probably
work fine anyways, though.
There should be no difference in other regards.

I have been trying to get this bios file for several weeks from the
Asus German FTP site but I can't seem to get into the site. Where did
you get the bios file? TIA

EDIT:

i also found that this board supports an athlon xp 2600+ (133fsb). it
seems very hard to find, but which i found was labeled athlon xp-m. so my
question is, if this is a regular xp oder a mobile version, which also
works in a a7v266-e ?
