A7V266: multiplier locked with Athlon XP???

B

Please help!

I have an Asus A7V266 board with an Athlon XP 2400+ CPU (@ 133x15). I
am unable to increase the multiplier higher than 15x. When I increase
the multiplier in the BIOS, e.g. to run at 133x16, the CPU
still runs at 133x15 (checked with WCPUID).

Setting the multiplier to 14 on the other hand, DOES work. It almost
seems as if the CPU will not 'recognize' a higher multiplier than its
default value of 15. Which is strange, since - as far as I have been
informed - the XP T-Breds are factory unlocked.

Addtional data:
- CPU: Athlon XP T-Bred 2400+ (15x133=2.0 GHz).
- The A7V266 mainboard jumpers are set to Palomino.
- BIOS version 1.011 and 1.015b1. Both with the same result.
- Mutlipliers from 13 up to 24 are selectable in the BIOS.
- Increasing the FSB is not the alternative I'm looking for.

How can I increase the multiplier?

Thank you for your time and answers!

Bart
