CPU cycles to100% then down

Toshiba Portege WinXp 512 Mb RAM recently re-installed everything and no
problems with re-install. This problem was there before the re-install as
well.

CPU Load ramps up to 100% in a 5 second burst and then back to zero and then
repeats cyclically every 30 seconds. This with the computer sitting there
and no visible applications running.

Various running processes but not sure how to see which is causing the high
cpu? Short of disable/enable one at a time thru 33 processes.

No scheduled tasks
No "Phone-Homes" or Auto updates.
Index services turned off.

Spysweeper 3.0
System Suite v5 Antivirus and firewall

Are key background processes

Help appreciated in tracking down this small annoyance

Open task manager and select the processes tab. Click on the cpu column
twice. This will organize the processes by cpu usage from highest to lowest
cpu usage. Watch to see what process is eating up your cpu.

Good Luck!

Clever fella!! That did the trick! Spysweeper was the culprit, as I
expected. I think they have a problem with current version 3.

Thanks
