Could not use 'Admin'; file already in use.

I recently began receiving the above error message from Access 2000 when I
attempt to open a second instance of Access through my secured work group.
This has not been a problem in the past. I do not even get the opportunity
to log in. I am not aware of any changes made to the work group file or its
security settings.

Does anyone know what could be preventing me from starting a second instance
now and what I can do about it?

Did you ever get an answer on this? I added an additional user last night
(8 total users) and this morning we are getting the same message (Could not
use 'Admin'; file already in use.) if more than one person attempts to log
into the database. We have never had this problem before. I am working with
Access 2000 sp3. I also tried to copy a new version of the .mdw security
file with no success.
Any ideas?

Nope, no answer. I now believe that this is not an Access issue, but one of
file rights on the server. It works fine if I copy the database files to my
local machine, and the company installed a new client server about the time
my problems began. Apparently the systems they tested the client server on
were all XP sp. 2 so I suspect that teh new client server just does not play
well with sp1. I am leaning on them to get me to sp2 soon.

All users of the mdb need create/delete permissions on the folder where the
mdb is.

Furthermore, in a multiuser environment, you should split the mdb into
backend (tables only, located on the server) and frontend (all other
objects, with linked tables to the backend). A copy of the frontend should
be placed on each user's computer. All users need the full permissions on
the folder where the backend lives.
