Could not pop up a new window

I am recently facing problem with IE 6.0. I could not open
a New browser window by clicking any link that made to open
the content in new browser window. For example I could not
post this message by using IE, I am posting Netscape thanks
for Netscape for life saver because no window is opening
when I click on "New Post" button.
And another problem When any web page encounter with Java
application that browser window closes itself and creating
error file by Java VM.
When I put in repair for IE I received message
"
Internet Explorer cannot be repaired due to the following
error, Please run set-up again to reinstall all components.
Error: An error has occurred while setting up
" C:\windows\SYSTEM\oleaut32\.dll ", This error has been
logged, the installation will continue."

I uninstalled and re installed IE 6 again. But no use.
Any Idea about that Problem?

We have had this problem here on a Windows 2000 laptop.

The computer hangs for 15 seconds when trying to open a
new window.

None of the fixes in Article 281679 are effective.

In addition to not running javascript links or opening
new windows, the find files/folder option from the start
menu also causes the computer to hang for 15 seconds.

Can anyone suggest anything?

I have removed and reinstalled IE6 to no effect. I cannot
reinstall the operating system over the top of the
current one, as even though I have removed SP4, the SP2
version of windows thinks that it's still installed and
dumps me out of the process.

Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Thanks Warren,

Very useful messages to me. Microsoft support page didn't
solve the problem.
I am using Windows 98. So mcrepair.exe helped me.

Thanks again!

I've been having exactly this problem as well and the
support page 281679 was no help at all.

Should I try running mcrepair.exe? or this a file that I
need download?
