Could not find web server at...

T

Thomas

In trying to publish a page on my company's intranet I get this message
that FP2000 can not find the web server at the ftp address provided.

I have a username and password that are accepted.

I can view the contents of the ftp site in IE, so I know it exists.

I have turned off FP extensions to no avail.

Stuck, I am. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thomas

Port 21 is a FTP port and FP can not open a site via FTP

But I use ftp successfully to update my web site at my ISP. Is there
something peculiar about the need to "open a site" that my ISP does not
require?

Hi Thomas,

I think Mr. Rowe means you cannot open the website in FrontPage using FTP
URL. Instead, you should open it with http URL and then do something you
want. I guess he asked this questions because the error message you got
indicates that you were trying to open a website using its FTP URL.

So to make sure we are on the same page, please let us know excactly the
setps you used to open the webiste and how your publish it.

Sincerely,

I don't know the answer but I have to ask a basic question here...is there
as server actually running on your intranet? I know mine has been a tad
finicky lately and has been shutting itself down...taking donut breaks I
guess.
