Could not Complete the Operation

Outlook 2000

One of my users recently received the following error when attempting to
send an email message to several distribution groups:

Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not
valid.

The body of the message was just simple text, and there was one Word
document attached. However, I think that the problem was in the
distribution groups to which the message was sent. One of the distribution
groups was in the sender's personal contacts, and he used two other
distribution groups by opening up another user's Contacts folder, and then
he selected one name from the global address book.

My thought is that Outlook was having problems pulling addresses from
multiple locations, but that's just a guess. I had the user send the
message to the distribution list in his Contacts folder, and it worked. I
then had him open the other user's Contacts folder and send a separate
message to the two distribution lists he needed in that folder, and that
worked too. But we couldn't get it to work with all three distribution
lists at the same time. Any ideas why?

Check the validity of all of the email addresses. If one is bad it may prevent any from being sent.

Of the 3 distribution lists, 2 of them contain only addresses from outside
of our organization. When an email is sent to only these two distribution
lists, we get a few undeliverable messages back, but no error message, and
remaining people in these lists receive the message. As for the third
distribution list, that one is for internal employees. It contained
outdated--but still valid--addresses. I updated all of those addresses, and
we can send to that distribution list without errors as well. It's when we
try to use all 3 distribution lists at once that we seem to get the error
message.
