Corrupted registry preventing WInXP startup - Help

F

Francis

Hi, my computer recently gave me this message upon
startup: "Windows XP could not start because the
following file is missing or corrupt: \Windows\system32
\config\system"

I researched the knowledge database, and its told me to
type some algorathyms into the Recovery Console, However,
after I type what the support says,
I get the message, "parimiter not valid".

I don't know what to do. I cannot start WinXp in safe
mode, or boot it up any way. I keep typing in the codes
that the support sites tells me to, and vary it to
experiment, to no success. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

thanks.

Chat support, register chat live ! with MS about SP2 problems

Ok, this is getting out of hand. The OP says nothing about
having a problem with SP2, or even having it installed.
In fact, there's a good chance that his problem is
related to not having SP*1* installed. Try and have a
little bit of a clue before posting, will you?

Here is where he should go:
