If someone else opens my Excel files and saves them, I get a message saying "file error: data may have been lost" when I try to reopen the files on my computer. Then sure enough the files are empty--at least according to my computer. Other computers on the network (Windows 98's and 2000's) can open the files just fine with all the information still intact. This happens if the file is transferred over the network or if it is transferred by floppy. I've tried opening Excel files created within the past few years that are saved on the server and about half open fine and half give me the file error message. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft office, but I still have the same problem
My Event Viewer records these incidents as errors of Excel.exe with the following error message...
Faulting application excel.exe, version 11.0.5612.0, stamp 3f39ff9d, faulting module excel.exe, version 11.0.5612.0, stamp 3f39ff9d, debug? 0, fault address 0x002c66b4
If anyone knows something that I could try to fix this problem please let me know
Thanks.
