Copy an Import Spec

Is there a way to copy an Import Specification from one mdb to another or
must it be created by hand for each mdb?

Open a new (empty) .mdb file.

Select File | Get External Data | Import ...

Note that there is an "Options>> button -- click it.

You can select Import/Export Specs to "copy" them into your new database.

Thanks, Jeff. I had never seen that before. Never needed it before. Does
it work for an existing database and does it import all the import specs in
the database or only for the selected file?

My issue is we do all our developement in a dev location. I have 3 other
developers on my team, we do not have sourcesafe, and our method is I am
notified when an object has been modified or created, and I import that into
the "Master Development" mdb, test it, and deploy it.

We are getting a new data feed coming in in csv format and would you believe
it, the field names don't match! So, I had to do an import spec and because
of time constraints I had to do it twice.

Not sure I understood the question.

If you tell Access which .mdb file you wish to do the import (objects) from,
and if you check the Import/Export Specs checkbox, you should get all the
Import & Export Specs that are in that (import from) .mdb file.

It would be like checking all the tables in the import (objects) from .mdb
.... you should end up with all the tables imported.
