Converting Word to Publisher & retain graphic layout

Hi. I need to convert a large number of User Guide documents which have
graphical elements representing buttons on the device the guides are for. The
graphics are placed within the text e.g. "Press the [image of a button]
button to exit". However, I need to convert these documents to publisher to
amend the layouts for our new company branding and when I do so the graphics
are all laid out on the left-hand side of the publisher document.
I literally have to convert hundreds of these documents and cannot do them
all manually for time and sanity reasons so please, if anyone has an idea for
me I would be most grateful.

I have never worked with Publisher at all (and it's not a priori clear
to me why you do need to work there, but that aside): _how_ are the
pictures positioned in Word: as Shape or InlineShape ("inline with
text") objects?

If Word's export capabilities are not enough (you have tried saving as
HTML and opening that in Publisher?), you might be better off in a
publisher forum.
