Converting Excel to Lotus 1,2,3, Release 9 files

Louis

I just started a job that requires me to work in Lotus.
The boss believes Lotus is just as good as Excel 2002.
I've created all of my files so far in Excel and I just
came out of a meeting where I was told that needs to
stop! So now I have to convert all my Excel files back to
Lotus 1,2,3 Release 9. Any tips? Help please.

You're going to have to open your .XLS files in 123 and save them as .123 files.
There could be many features in the Excel files that can't be converted to 123,
so you may have a manual translation exercise to endure.

FWIW, your boss is right & wrong. 123 can accomplish most things Excel can,
though differently. There are some things each can do that the other can't. For
that matter, there are a few things 123R5 could do that neither 123R9* or Excel
can do. Two steps forward, one step back.

Dear Louis,
Is your boss nuts?
I'm currently working on converting all of our company
files to Excel97/XP from the 123R5 enviorment. Some Lotus
123 macros will run in Excel XP but will in 97.
If is my experince that the 123 Millennium Version is not
very stable under XP OS> But what is?

Here is some reference information that maybe helpfull
(if you work backwards).

Also there is a Lotus 123 file cleaner that removes
excess formatting from converted files.

This is the IBM Lotus 123 support site

Good Luck !!
