CONVERT OUTLOOK 2003 PST FILE BACK TO OFFICE 2000-2002 FORMAT

Create a new pst file in Outlook 2003. Make sure you select the 97-2002
format. Copy or move items from your upgraded PST to the old format PST.

Also, typing in all caps is considered shouting and is very hard to read.

Hi Patricia

I have a similar problem to Jeremy. I have a PST file created in Outlook XP (2003?) from the place I used to work. The version of Outlook I have installed on my home computer and at my new job is 2002.

Is there any software or utility (other than Outlook XP itself) that converts a PST file back to an older version or can extract the information out of it?

Regards

Peter

Hi, there

Outlook 2003 pst file is not compatible with outlook 2000 and 2002. then
create a new pst file in OL2003 File/new/outlook data file/outlook 97-2002
pst/ then import the data into this file and use it with OL2000 or OL2002.
This may help!!

you need to convert it on a machine that has 2003 installed - get a trial
version to do it if you don't have a friend with it installed who will let
you use his computer to do it.

NEVER import a native Outlook .pst file. Copy the data from the 2003 file
to the 97-2002 file using drag and drop. Once populated, open the .pst file
in the older Outlook using File->Open->Outlook Data File to access the .pst.

Outlook PST Conversion

Hi Milly, Diane & Yvon

Thanks for all the responses. I don't have access at present to a copy of Outlook 2003 - it looks like I will just have to wait until they upgrade at the place I'm working now...

Cheers

Hi, I also have the same problem. The thing is, the machine had OL2003 installed, and is now running OL2000. I am unable to open the default folders, even when I create a new profile. Do i have to re-install OL2003, export the .pst files in OL2000 format to a new folder, uninstall OL2003, install OL2000, and then import the .pst files? I'm not exactly sure how this works, and it seems very confusing.. Thanks in advance, J.

Hi J

Yes you've got it - the only way to get those files back into Outlook 2000 is to either reinstall 2003 on your computer and convert back or copy them to someone else's computer who has 2003 to do the conversion for you.

That's pretty much what I did in the end.

Cheers

Hi Jeremy,

I have a similar problem. I have a PST file created MS Outlook 2003 (Unicode), then after changing my job I have Outlook 2002 installed at my new job.

I fount it very difficult to convert Ms Outlook 2003 PST files to Ms Outlook 2002 PST files. Then finally searched in google and found SysTools PST Upgrade software.

SysTools PST Upgrade software is an affordable & easy to use software. Software performs 100% PST Conversion.

Download the software from their site: http://www.pstupgrade.com
