I've had the newer appearance of the control pannel every since i bought the
computer. One day my computer became infected with a virus and for some
reason my control pannel went back to the basic tiles. I tried fixing it but
for some reason the option of weither i want tiles or a listing of options is
unavailable. Can someone tell me how to get my control pannel back to the way
it was.

Well, i tried BOTH of those commands and neither worked. Is there anything
else I could do. Also, my shortcuts appear like they are highlighted. Is
there anything I could do about that?

Did you merge those .reg files? You might also try SFC to repair your
system files:

Click Start, Run, type SFC /SCANNOW, click OK. If any files are damaged
or missing, they'll be replaced. You may need to reboot afterwards so
damaged files will be replaced.

For your shortcuts:
