Control Panel Tools

I am having problems with the control panel tools. Anytime I open any
control panel tool it will stay open for 10 - 15 seconds and then close on
its own. This is very frustrating because I can't even remove an unwanted
program or add a user account. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ben, I am having the same problem with most of the programs under
Administration Tools directory. Have you had any look with a resolution

Bill, Ben

I have been having this problem for the last two days. I have been trying
to locate the problem but I cannot. Most of my replies talked about a
security patch that was done last year but none of the systems I'm working on
have the patch. Please let me know if you find out the problem. My post is
just above yours.

Ben,

It seems like your computer is infected. If you can't run (Start --
Run...) Regedit, too -- then this suspicion grows to assurance.

Try to boot in Safe Mode, and run an antivirus with the up to date virus
base.

Perhaps a virus doesn't want you to have access to CP?

I have already tried scanning with Norton and TrendMicro (Housecall) with no
results.

I ran my symantec scan in safe mode and also the bitdefender scan in safe
mode and both came back clean. I tried also to run sfc /scannow, but it
always tells me i have the wrong cd. Any other suggestions?
