In Control Panel 'classic view' the different icon pictures do not appear .
Instead I get gneric 'folders' for each.

I tried the link but it didn't fix it.

The machine is a new E1505. Sometimes the control panel's 'classic view'
will show no pictures at all, just generic folders for each application, and
other times it will show 4-5 pictures and the rest of the icons will be
generic folders.

Thanks

See if deleting the IconCache.db file. Click Start/Run and type:

%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\

Select the file named "IconCache.db" (hidden file) and delete it.

Restart Windows.
