Contacts in Public Folders

I have set up a Public Folder that contains Contact items on my
Exchange 2003 Server. The only problem is that when users double-click
on Contacts in said folder in Outlook Web Access, the "Send mail to
contact" button on the toolbar is greyed out.

This system works perfectly with Outlook 2003, but I need a way that
users can access this group-wide contact folder from home. Does anyone
have any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

This is expected behavior in OWA, which does not have all the features of desktop Outlook. Users can still copy and paste an address from the public contacts folder.

In addition to Sue's sage reply, might want to ask your Exchange admin (Iif
it isn't you) to take a look at www.messageware.com

Oh, bother. The only problem with that is when we switch to a new
system, our administration just assumes that anything they have to take
extra time for is because the new system just sucks. I guess the best
approach would be to have them use desktop Outlook at home and connect
to the Microsoft Exchange Server then, yes?

[Sorry for the double post; wasn't paying attention.]

It is me; the only problem is I'm hesitant to buy anything new
especially if there's any other alternative.

yes, that's the way to get the full functionality.

Understood - but there is no native alternative if you want OWA to act more
like Outlook.
Since you are referring to outside/external users, look into RPC over
HTTP(s) for remote access if that fits your setup/needs....or show people
how to use OWA.

Would this Messageware also enable such things as read/write access to
Shared Calendars? If so, I think I can push it through. Otherwise, I
can't buy it only for one issue.
