Connection to Network keeps disconnecting

At work our client pc's are all running windows xp pro
Sp2. We had purchased XP pro SP1 with licenses to upgrade
all the client pc's. There was a problem where when
connected to a server on the domain it sometimes
disconnects for no apparent reason and the only way to
get the connection back is to log off and log back on. We
recently upgraded to SP2 but this didn't help solve the
problem. Some days you would have to log off 5 times and
other days it doesn't happen. It also seems that it
doesn't matter if you are on a server on the network at
the moment or not. This slows down productivity and is an
inconvience. Any suggestions in this matter would be
greatly appreciated. Our servers are running Windows 2000
server if that helps.
Thanks in Advance

Nicole,

please have a look at http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm.
Check particularly the repair procedure for the Winsock and
check your computers for adware and viruses.

When the connections stops working, does it stop for all client
computers at the same time? Or can it happen that one client
computer cannot connect while others still can?

I have checked all the computers for adware and viruses
and all are clean.

When the connection stops working it is not for all
computers, it can happen that one client
computer cannot connect while others still can.
I'll take a look at the repair procedure for Winsock on
the link you gave me to see if that helps. Thanks for the
suggestions.
