Connection of external drive

I have just purchased an ATA ISO GEAR 280 2.5" 160gb external drive Model
BXE-237.

When I connect to my HP laptop it shows as a drive in My Computer and I have
no problems but when I plug in to my desktop it does not appear in My
Computer. When I checked Device Manager it shows under USB devices with
yellow triangles and there are 2 message, "Uim_IM.sys" and "Uim Bus.sys" on
Installation Disk for Universal Image Mounter Plugin Module is needed. I
can't find either on my system so where can I find and download them from
please?

A device like that should be "USB Mass Storage" class, and use a driver
already include in WinXP.

I'm finding very few references to Uim_IM.sys and that makes me nervous.

It could be related to something by Paragon. In other words,
there may be a service running on your desktop, that sees
a brand new hard drive, and is attempting to install some
software in preparation for handling the new drive. Just
a guess.

I found the references to Paragon, here. (In the "Code" windows...)
