Connecting a video device...

I'm running WinXP Pro on a Gigabyte mobo and a Studio Pinnacle DV10 capture
card. The system is a P4 2GHz with 512Mb RAM and a SATA drive. The video
camera is a Panasonic NV-DS27B

When I try to capture video in Windows Movie Maker I get the following
error...

A video capture device was not detected. Verify that a device is turned on
(which it is) and connected properly (which it is), and try again (which I
do).

I have no yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager, and everything else
seems to work. I did try to install the Studio software (although I don't
like it) but that returns a similar error, as does Nero 6 (which started
this fiasco in the first place).

The installation is fairly recent (within the last 6 weeks) so there is very
little software installed, but my scanner works perfectly. Also, the reslt
is the same irrespective of which firewire port I connect the camera to.

I also tried to use the 'Detect new hardware' wizard, all to no avail.

The camera etc worked well before, but I've not tried it since reinstalling
everything six weeks ago.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've resolved this issue, probably by accident rather than using technical
expertise!
I moved the StudioDV card to a different PCI slot, the operating system
detected the card when I started up, and then the camcorder was recognised
when I plugged in the cables - voila!
