Explain ... " All the Inbox from Windows Live went into Windows Mail... "
You don't mean messages that were ALREADY in Windows Live INBOX had
disappeared, did you ?
In any case, please do this on BOTH accounts :
Tools > Accounts > your account > Properties > Advanced
under Delivery heading, put a checkmark on " Leave a copy of messages on
server " > OK
Make sure you do the same on BOTH accounts.
What that does is, the incoming messages will appear in both account.

Bob Quinn said:Got it, but got something I did not expect. All the Inbox from Windows
Live
went into Windows Mail and that is not what I want because all my folders
are
in Windows Live. Any way to keep the functionality of Windows Live? I just
wanted Windows mail to have a way to send internet stuff. Thanks. Let me
know
if I can recover.

1.) Tools > Accounts > highlight your account > Properties > Servers >
under outgoing mail , enter smtp.live.com NOT smtp.live.com (port
587) >
click Apply
2.) [Tools > Accounts > your account >Properties] > Advanced....
under Outgoing mail (SMTP), change it to 587 NOT 25
under This server requires a secure connection (SSL), put a checkmark on
the
box
under Incoming mail (POP3), enter 995
under This server requires a secure connection (SSL), also put a
checkmark.
Click Apply > OK

I itried your suggestion, Gary, but I got a message back saying the
system
could not find the SMPT (587) server , and it did not work. I just
want
to be
able to send internet material by e-mail, but Windows Mail does not
seem to
want to co-operate with my Windows Live Hotmail account. Is there an
easier
way? Regards, Bob

Follow the settings given here:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry
Use port 587 rather than port 25 for the SMTP server.
Although it accepts the newer Live.com addresses, Windows Mail's
account setup wizard is hard-coded to reject Hotmail and MSN
addresses.
To get around that, when you enter your Hotmail/MSN email address
initially,
use a fake one, such as (e-mail address removed). After the account setup is
complete,
go back and correct your email address.
