Conexant v92/v90 56K PCI Modem Installation Problem

Hello,

I have a Conexant v92/v90 56K PCI Modem with SmartDAA that I can't get to
install on a Dell Optiplex GX1 450 MHz Pentium III with 512MB Ram running
Windows XP w/SP2. At boot time the OS will not detect the modem. Also when I
go into control panel the modem is not detected. I can locate the ".INF" file
but when I click on it it does not show up in the Add Hardware Wizzards
Window. I have tried several modems to guard aginst a dead one. The V90
Conexant modems that I have installed in the past have been auto-detected by
the OS. I have tried moving the modem to differnt PCI slots with no luck.
What do I need to do to install this type of modem? Thank You in advance!!!

I checked and system BIOS has no "PnP" detect mode. Also other cards are auto
detected.

look to see if the bios has manual or automatic irq settings for pci devices
(or some similar option)
set them all to auto if not already set
also:
try removing some of your other PCI cards and see if you can get the modem
detected...
then start putting them back in again in different slots
I've been know to have to swap a few things around to get it all sorted out

I looked to see if the bios has manual or automatic irq settings for pci
devices there is no control over pci or isa only the ability to disable the
built-in sound, network systems and the Com ports 1 & 2 and the Parralel
port. I the only plug-in card is the modem a pci card the rest of the system
is built-in. I disabled all built-in cards and still nothing. I noticed on
newer systems that the hardware panel will have a yellow question mark
labeled PCI Communications and I can go there to setup the modem. Here no
such luck. Any other suggestions I am all ears.
Tried turning the built-in card back on in the BIOS one at a time Nothing.

Thanks Agian for the help
