Computer turns itself off

My computer turns off by itself. The first time I get on
it, it will stay on for about an hour, but each time after
that I'm lucky if I get 10 minutes. After trying to
restart, I can't even get to the BIOS screen. It's like
all of a sudden it has a mind of its own. I am running XP
professional a(I think it was XP home edition first)and
use wmconnect.com for the internet. I am wondering why it
is doing this and how to FIX it! Compaq (HP) didn't really
know what to say, so I thought I would try this out.
Virus scan says there are no viruses, so I don't have a
clue.
Thanks for any input!

OOPS-I didn't leave ANY info!
It is a compaq presario 5000T,
current OS MS winXP Prof. (but on back label says MS Win
Home Edition)
Processor: Compaq 686p9 v 1.01 8/31/2001~1096Mhz
Phys. Mem: 256 MB, Virtual Mem: 879 MB
Page file space:625.13 MB
It seems to stay on for awhile as long as I don't try to
get on wmconnect (internet). Once I try to log on, it
turns off, and no luck getting it to boot up completely.
Don't know any other info or if any would be needed. If
needed email me and I will get back to you A.S.A.P.

Sounds like either a heat problem (processor getting too hot), or your Power
Supply has problems (either weak or it's getting too hot).
