Computer shuts off unexpectedly

Running Windows XP - Home on Toshiba Satellite. Computer has been shutting
off unexpectedly while I'm using it recently. It's a laptop but it's plugged
in (connections not loose) and power settings are on High and hibernation
setting is off. In event viewer I see this -

The mrtRate service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

The event ID is 7000. I can't figure out what's gone on. Any input is
appreciated.

A google search relates "mrtRate" with quicken. Try uninstalling
quicken,reboot then reinstall it.

Also you might try this.
Go to "my computer" (system) and right click, select properties, click on the
advance tab, next under the heading "startup and recovery" click the settings
button, now under "system failure" uncheck automatically restart.

I am also having the same problem with a Toshiba satellite. It shuts off many
times unexpectedly at start up and I get the same error report "event ID 7000
Service Control Manager (SCM) could not start the specified service, probably
because the service is not configured correctly.
I will see if this suggestion works.

thanx
