Computer running unusually slow --sticks 20 to 30 seconds on each page

I am having the same problem as Lee Brown, above. Windows XP starting sticking on each and every page for about 20 or so seconds. Progress bar shows it to be full during this time. Tried the same things Lee tried. Norton Antivirus did find the adware which it was unable to delete but Lee apparently doesn't have this and his seems to be doing the same thing so I am guessing the adware is not the problem

Open up Internet Explorer and in the Menu bar choose 'Tools' and then Internet Options. From there open up the Programs tab and click on 'Reset Web Settings'. Then get some spyware killer, like ad-aware
Hope that does it for ya.
