computer logs off

When I log into the computer, the desktop appears but quickly goes into the
logging off mode and back to the sign in screen. this just started a couple
of days ago. I did check the spyware problem "wsaupdater" and the registry
was fine. The machine will start in safe mode. I have tried a different
restorstion point but did not help. Any ideas?

Since the machine starts in Safe Mode:

1. Make sure it is virus/malware-free:

2. If the machine is clean, do clean-boot troubleshooting to see what is
starting in Regular Mode and causing the problem.
