COmpaq not working after installing new SDram 128MB

hi there...i have a problem with my computer compac 5000
presario XP...ok so I had 256MB sd-ram and I added 128MB
more....But my computer did not recognized it...So I
tooked it off and it didn't turn on...I unplugged
everything...I tried for hours and nothing happens... The
pc turns on but not the monitor...I put my monitor in my
brother's pc XP and works but not in my PC..I changed
video cards but it doesn't work.....I think something
might have blow off...but i dont know ..Somebody told me
to remove the jumper next to the BIOs which I have
recently done and inserted back again...Well no luck in
there either....I'm trying to remove the CMOS Chip but I
don't know if I could do that .....Is it safe ...And will
my data be lost...? Please I need my pc working back
again.....Thank you for reading the following .....

OK, first take a Deep Cleansing Breath. Your data is not lost because it
is stored on the hard drive, which is probably just fine unless you've
also been messing with it. This is not a software problem. Now, stop
messing about with your computer and of course you shouldn't remove any
chips. That would be a Really Bad Thing for you do do. If you've taken
out the RAM you added and put the old RAM back in the same slot where
it originally was and the computer won't start, you damaged something
or you don't have the RAM in correctly. Be smart - take the computer to
a local repair shop and have them deal with it. Depending on where you
live, you may need to go to CompUSA - here in Fresno, CA they are the
only Compaq dealer.
