Compaq NIC Teaming installation failed

I have a Windows 2000 Server that is an Active Directory
Domain controller. We recently decided to upgrade this
server to Windows Server 2003. During the compatibility
check it notified us that we either need to remove the
Compaq NIC Teaming software or upgrade it. We have
another box that is identical to this box and we did the
upgrade to the lastest support pack (6.40a) on both
machines. On the other machine everything worked fine and
we were able to upgrade to W2k3. On this machine it
basically refused to install the NIC Teaming portion of
the support pack. The only error message was that "An
error occurred during installation". I tried to re-apply
Service Pack 4 and then install the support pack with the
same results. So I went ahead and removed NIC Teaming
from the system so I could get the upgrade done. My
thought was that once the upgrade was complete, I might be
able to install the Teaming software. This was not the
case. I see the same error as I did before the upgrade
was done. It is now running fine with no teaming
installed but our client needs to have teaming put back on
the machine. Has anyone experienced this before?
Compaq's answer is to rebuild the server which I disagree
with simply because this is an AD Domain Controller. I
would think that they would want to at least try some
fixes first before rebuilding an Active Directory Domain
Controller. Any Ideas?????

I've experienced similar on Intel ProSet. I had to run the setup from the
root of c: rather than other drives.

Not sure if it is similar in your case
