(2) Network Cards

We just purchased a Dell Server with 2 NICs. We
configured each NIC with it's own IP and connected them to
different switches for redundancy.

The server is generating 8021 & 4319 error events
presumably due to incorrect cfg. with 2 NICs (DNS has 2
entries for the same machine name).

Dell is saying to cfg. Teaming using their software.

Is this the best/recommended cfg. or does MS have a
feature built into the OS (W2K Server) to handle two cards?

Thank you!

If you use the teaming it will make the server think it has one card.
Teaming software has its good points and bad points. I would just disable 1
nic, and then use it as a hot spare. IMHO you should do a teamed Load
Balanced configuration.... if you actually NEED it :)

Most folks will never use the full bandwidth of there server and their nic.
