Compaq Ait 50 Tape Drive Direct Access

F

Fred

I have added an AIT 50 SCSI tape drive to my XP Pro pc. I
am looking for a way to access the drive just like you
would access a local hard drive. And also be able to move
and copies files to the tape by using explorer. If this
is not possible within XP, is there a utility or software
package that would acomplish this?

I would also like to move and copy files across my
network from other pc to the tape drive.

Thank you for your help.

Its a tape drive which is a sequential drive, you cannot add and drop
files like this to such devices. You would normally use a backup
program such as NTBackup to write or read files to such devices.

If you want to drag and drop files then I suggest getting a CD or DVD
rewrite instead with Packet writing software such as Easy CD or Nero.
