Command Prompt?

When I go to Start, All Programs, Accessories and select
Command Prompt, it does not start with the simple C:\

Instead it opens as C:\documents and settings\douglas or
as C:\Windows\fonts, etc.

How do I get it to be the old "C:\" without the other
folders and paths showing?

Right click on the Command Prompt icon and choose Properties. When the
properties window opens up, change the calue in the window "Start in"
from %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%
to C:\ and click OK

Right click on the "Command Prompt" icon in the start menu.
Choose "Properties"
In the field "start in:" enter; C:\

Now when you double-click on the Command Prompt icon, you will be placed in the C:\
directory.

BTW: Is that the Hindu spelling of California ;-)

Try this............

Right click the Desktop | New | Shortcut |
Paste this in the location box:

%SystemRoot%\system32\cmd.exe

Click Next | Click Finish |

Right click the new cmd.exe shortcut | Properties |
In the Start in box replace %windir% with C:\ |
Apply | OK

Double click the new shortcut and you should see.............

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

C:\>

You can also change the Start in for the cmd shortcut located under
Accessories on the Start Menu.
