Suffice it to say that I am
using devcon.exe successfully on a daily basis.

With AHCI devices? If so, may I see an example of one
of your command lines?

My tool RemoveDrive can usually do this:

No guarantee for SATA drives but worth a try.

Hi Uwe,

Your utility looked so familiar that I got to scratching
my head. I did a script three years or so back for a
company that had two USB drives in rotation for a backup.
Your utility was the only utility I could find that correctly
ejected her drives, including devcon. Thank you!

They still have a lot of Plug 'n Play problems -- could talk
them into the extra expense of Firewire drives.

The current customer is using eSata drives, so I will try
HotSwap! first, as it is specifically aimed at eSata. If
that does not work, then I will give RemoveDrive a shot.

As I said in my one of my previous replies, I do not know if devcon.exe
works for an AHCI device and I don't have one of them to test it myself. If
I was in your shoes then I would do this:
- Use devcon.exe to disable a network adapter.
- Once you know how to use the command, try it on your drive.
