Columns 123 instead of ABC

In excel07 my columns are numeric instead of Alphabetic. I've looked
everywhere to find how i can have it alphabetic. Ridiculous and stupid to
have this not only numeric but no easy way to work out how to have the
option of having it Alphabetic.
Can someone help please. Very hard to decipher formulas when there isn't a
clear difference between rows and columns!!

Click on the Office Button, select Formulas, Formulas, and change R1C1
reference style.
