Is there a way to edit the default color pallate for powerpoint graphs? My
dept. has a new protocol for chart colors and so far, I have had to go in
graph by graph and modify the colors. Thanks for any insights.

The graph default colors are based on the color scheme. You can edit the
colors by going to format > slide design > color schemes > edit color scheme
(at the bottom)

The first few data series will pick up their colors from PPT's color scheme but
other than that, there's no way to set a default color palette, unfortunately
(at least not in MS Graph, though I believe you can do it in Excel).

You can create charts of the types you need in a separate presentation, one
chart per slide, edit their color palettes as needed. Then to add a new chart
to a current presentation, use Insert, Slides, From File and bring in the slide
with the chart you want.

We've got a much easier-to-use/more automated way of doing this as part of one
of our add-ins. Be happy to chat about it if you like.

Email steve at-sign pptools dot com if interested.

Hi John,

My graph doesn't follow the rule. The first series picks up from one of 40
colors above, the second picks up correctly from color scheme, and the third
one picks from 40 colors above.

I see the first 6 colors of 8 on the first row correctly reflecting the
color scheme.

What happened? How could I fix it?
