Cmd opens in full window

Hi -

When I go to Start > Run and type in "Cmd", the window opens maximized.

How can I get it back to a normal window?

(WinXP Pro SP2)

TIA ... ~Tom

You might want to try the following:
Open up a Command Prompt window.
Hit the Windows key, or Ctrl + Esc.
This should minimize the window.
Right click on the program's entry on your taskbar.
Select Properties from the menu that pops up.
On the Options page, make sure Window is selected in the
"Display Options" section.
Click OK.
Select "Save properties for future windows with same title".
Click OK.

Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt properties dropdown was
already set to "Normal Window" on the Shortcut tab. However, on the Options
tab, under Display Options, I set it to "Window", and it seems fine.

This was AFTER applying Nepatsfan's fix to the Run > Start "cmd problem.
....probably a good idea to do this one, too.

Thank you very much for the fix and for helping me find my Command Prompt
shortcut.

Thank you, but it turned out to be a bit more than just that. Please see
Nepatsfan's reply and my reply to Peter Foldes. Thanks again. ...~Tom

Hi Kelly ...

The window opened full screen so there was no top bar. Nepatsfan and Peter
Foldes nailed it for me.

Thank you for your quick response.

Hi,

Right click the Top bar within CMD and select Default/Options/Window.

There was no top bar due to opening in full screen. Maybe next time I'll
try the corner bar and have a beer. ;-D

Thank you. ... ~Tom

Long way around?)

Go Saints!
(Except on 8/18/5, 11/20/5 and definitely not on 2/5/6)! ,-)
