Cluster Hardware Issues

I'm trying to build a cheap bedroom MS Cluster configuration which eventually
will operate with SQL Server 2000. Not being very familiar with SCSI I can't
seem to confidently understand making the correct hardware choices. My
biggest road block is deriving the shared disk array. Can I use an Adaptec
2940 controller card with a couple disks on the bus as my shared disk array?
Will MS Cluster Service not have problems with this choice? If this card
won't work, can anyone suggest which card would work? I understand the
basics of clustering and have a strong command of SQL Server but building
2-node MS Cluster with SQL Server and operating as in an Active/Passive
config' is not so easy. I want to play and experiment and am having to dig
into my own pocket. Is there someone out there who can help? Thanx.

If you want to play/experiment, you should consider Virtual Server or
VMWare.

I could create 2 virtual servers, cluster them as Active/Passive, and
supporting a SQL Server 2000 install ?
