Close button (x) doesn't work

I am using WinXP Home. The IE6 browser can't be closed by
pressing the close button (x) on the top right hand corner
of the browser. As a quick solution, I just press Ctrl-Alt-
Del to force the browser to close.

But can anyone tell me how to fix this problem please?
