Cloning a MAC address

D

Dr. Georg N.Nyman

Hello to everyone,
my ISP assigns only fixed addresses and has required that I tell them the
MAC address of my LAN adapter. I have two computers which I do not use at
the same time but want to have to option to use one at a time.
I would need to know how to clone the MAC address of the one to the other to
avoid having to call the ISP always to grant access for the other computer.
Can anyone out there in cyberspace help me understanding how to do it?
Thanks and regards
George Nyman

George,

In many cases, you can change the MAC address from Local Area Connection
Properties - Configure - Advanced tab. Under Property, you should have Network
Address. Selecting Network Address, it should show Not Present, as in using the
Universally Administered Address (UAA). If you enter a Value, it will use a
Locally Administered Address (LAA), ie your cloned address.

Having said all of that, why not get a NAT router, and give the MAC address of
that to your ISP? You'll be safer, and better off.
