Clipboard won't work w/ Word doc [related EndNote problem too]

My Clipboard opens and collects cuts and copies, but it won't work to cut and
paste editts back to a Word document I'm typing.

Per my review of the Help suggestions, I've checked every option on the
Options part of what I believe to be the "task pane" for Office (the 24-item
dropdown that appears to the right of the doc).

That's the core MS Word problem I need help in diagnosing and fixing...

Below are more MS/EndNote issues that I'd be grateful for your help on if
you have the time or inclination to skim the following longer note (help with
EndNote a bonus but not necessary)....

________________________

Possibly Related Fact (but see Post-Script just added after this paragraph)
I am working in a document that was originally created in Endnote (widely
used high-end database software for facilitating bibliographies and
citations) before I copied the formatting for a second section. I know
that's not a Microsoft offering but it's solid 9th-generation software from a
reputable company that will help me greatly as a 51-year-old going to grad
school to become a history teacher).

[Post-Script Added After Note Below Finished - I just opened a regular old
Word doc to test EndNote's culpability and the Clipboard still doesn't work,
so read the following with this knowledge..My dream fix would be to have the
Clipboard work with an EndNote APA-style template doc too if that makes any
sense to you...if it doesn't, forget EndNote...I know that's a personal
non-MS problem...

Unfortunate Fact (if you know EndNote) - Sometime a few weeks ago, I lost
Endnote's ability to interface with Word (thrugh the Tools menu) and will
probably have to reinstall it it anyway unless I just lucjked out with a
Word/EndNote maven]

Odd fact -The new part of the doc that I'm typing doesn't appear in the
Normal view, just the Print view -- but the Clipboard doesn't work with the
part that appears in Normal either.

Maybe I have to make the difficult choice of working completely outside
Endnote (losing all its time-saving reference capabilities) or losing the
often-used capabilities of the Clipboard? Maybe I should contact Endnote's
publisher (Thomson Company from Canada) to ask for help instead of bothering
you?

Dear Garfield-n-Odie,

I clicked that the post both 1) was and 2) was not helpful, because the fact
that your link didn't help wasn't your fault. I sense you know EndNote and
the page was familiar (see below) so why EndNote's two alternative fixes
didn't work is a mystery.

I started out by re-downloading EndNote again per their advice (I clicked
"Repair" when given a choice between that, Modify and Uninstall...but please
note I never uninstalled what I had...since they didn't tell me to). When
that didn't work, I went through the sequence of downloading, copying and
pasting the .dot and WordXP.wll files they offered as a next, tougher step.

I actually remember doing the same thing lst October to get it working with
Word originally so I was just replacing the same downloaded .wll and .dot
files in the Endnote application file folder and Word start-up folder, though
the time of the file creation differed by an hour (Daylight Savings Time
shift since I downlaoded initially last file perhaps?)

In any case, it didn't work --- or at least the Cite-While-You-Write (CWYW)
function doesn't appear on the Tools menu. I think I remember it took a
while last time but it eventually worked, then the connection between Word
and EndNote went away a few works ago.

I got your kind note of help and link right away so this has cost me hours
of frustration (counting what I went through before I wrote the post). I'll
try re-starting XP again and doing the file copying from EndNote Program
Files to Word Start-up one more time. Otherwise, I'll see if I can contact
EndNote Help Desk in the morning (unless you have an idea...I'll be up a
while).

Either Word won't accept EndNote or EndNote suddenly became a bad partner
for Word (maybe the files on their website became corrupted, and, as I said,
I was just replacing ones that wee there already). I followed the path back
several times so I'm 99.9% sure I'm putting the .dot and .wll files in the
right Start-Up folder. I did exactly what they told me to do (two or three
times, in fact).

Oh well...thanks for trying.

P.S. - Somewhere in all this...the Clipboard started working ( at least for
one old and one new doc I opened) so I guess half a fix is better than none.

Thanks again for a valiant and appreciated gesture. It should have worked.

In Word, click on Tools | Macro | Security. If the security
level is set to High, then either change the security level to
Medium, or add Endnote (Thomson? Institute for Scientific
Information?) to the list of trusted sources. The Endnote .dot
and .wll files should be enabled in Tools | Templates and Addins.
See http://www.endnote.com/support/faqs/CWYW/faq4.asp for more
information.

Thanks so very much for sticking with my problem...

As I went through the previous fixes that didn't work, I was very
frustrated...

The security was Medium and Thomson signed in, but...

Somehow, as you indicated, the boxes in Templates and Add-Ins weren't
checked...

I'm dead tired, but it sure is nice to go to bed with a win...

Thanks to you, Garfield n' Odie...

Have a great week!

Dan

Hi Jadau
I went to this web site to show you how to use the apa template
http://www.referencepointsoftware.net/tutorials/apa/office2007Finding/office2007Finding.html

However when I tried to follow the steps I came to the my templates and I
did not have a templet Apa5thEd.wiz to click on. I'm very confused and I need
the format or template to complete class assignments! Please advise.

Are you sure you didn't look into a tutorial for payed software on this
site? They do sell templates there, so it might as well be that you have
to buy first ...
