Clients not keeping time with dc

I am having a problem with some of our windows 2000
clients not keeping prpoer time with the dc. Some of
them either fall back in time or are keeping the correct
time. The dc's are seup to get the time info from our
edge rougter which get's the time from the mil clock.
The one thing almost all of the workstations have in
common even those that are keeping time correct is they
do not have a time server setup if you do a NET
TIME /QUERYSNTP it says no time server. Can anyone tell
me how might this be caused and how to change it on a
mass level.

If you have not done already, then first read
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;216734 on how to
configure time service in Windows 2000. your clients (if 2000/XP) get the
time automatically from your DC using Windows Time service. Also make sure,
that you have proper time zone setup and "Daylight savings time" option.

Check the following key:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters:

Make sure Type is set to NT5DS.

If it is set to Nosync, your clients will not synch with
a DC.

Just making sure now you say to check the DC to see if it
says NT5DS if not the clients will not sync?

Just to let you know our root DC's are set to NTP and the
other two DC are set to NT5DS. If as you said then when
i do a NET TIME /QUERYSNTP i won't see a time server for
the 2000/xp clients they will just get time autmatically?
