Clicking Links causes strange behavior in Outlook 2003

Recently I have begun to have a strange thing happen with in click on URLs
within emails. The link opens up in IE, and yet I also give a box asking me
to locate my "link browser". If I point to IE then it opens to instances of
IE for every link I click on. OE doesn't exhibit this behavior, just
Outlook. I have done all the resetting of my default browser, etc. Nothing
seems to work for me.

Help please?

In IE did you click Tools>Internet Options>Programs>Reset Web Settings?

Yes, I did. Thanks for the suggestion though.

It is strange because it is not like clicking a link doesn't work, it does
work, there is just some part of Outlook that seems to think it cant locate
my "link browser".

And if you browse to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Iexplorer.exe in
that link browser, doesn't it work? In your original message you said that
if you browse to IE there, then IE opens. Is that not what you want?

If I browse to it, and assign iexplorer.exe then everytime I click on a link
I get TWO copies opening simultaneously.

OK, then, see if this helps. Open Windows Explorer and click Tools>Folder
Options>File Types. Locate the URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol file type,
select it and click Advanced. In the Edit File Type window, select open and
click Edit. In the "Application used..." field, make sure it says

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Iexplore.exe" -nohome

including the quotes and spaces. Make sure the "Use DDE" box is checked and
that the "DDE Message" field contains

"%1",,-0,0,,,,

the Application field contains

IExplore

and that the Topic field contains

WWW_OpenURL

Click OK, then OK again. Repeat for the URL:HyperText Teansfer Protocol
with Privacy file type and again for the URL:File Transfer Protocol. FOr
this latter, make sure the "DDE Application Not Running" field also contains
an asterisk.

At least, these are the settings on my PC.
