Mcafee Firewall Plus Upgrade & MsAS

Ok, I installed the upgrade to Mcafee's Firewall Plus and
Microsoft Antispyware came up with a popup alert that a
Windows service wanted to be added called MpfService, I
clicked to allow it since I had just upgraded and then
restarted my computer. Went back into my MSAS and it said
that it had blocked it. However, when I check
Mpfservice.exe in Task Manager Processes it is running
and when I check in services the Mcafee Personal Firewall
Service is started and set to automatic. This exact same
thing happened on two different machines with the same OS
and security software. There are others who have posted
that have noticed the same scenario with there
computers. Should I just ignore the MSAS message that
was recorded? How can do I know my Firewall is working
properly when MSAS says it blocked something I allowed?

My gut feeling is that the recorded action is recorded incorrectly, and
that, in fact, the action was allowed, as you had chosen.

I believe that Mcafee itself would be able to alert you to the fact that the
firewall component wasn't functioning, but I don't know that product suite
well enough to say for sure.

You could use a site that provides some level of firewall testing, such as
"shields UP!" at www.grc.com to test the basic functionality of your
firewall:

(beware of hype and excessive verbiage, but no spyware!)
